This set is an abridgment of Cook's first, second and third voyage accounts, compiled from the original editions authorized by the Royal Admiralty. Commonly regarded as one of the greatest sea explorers of all time, James Cook made history during the course of three epic voyages, charting the eastern Australian coast and circumnavigating New Zealand, putting many Pacific islands, including the Hawaiian Islands, on the map and exploring both the Arctic and Antarctic. Cook was accompanied on his voyages by many scientists and artists, including botanists Joseph Banks and Daniel Solander, and artists Sydney Parkinson and John Webber. The 10 years of Cook's three great voyages are well documented in his comprehensive logs and journals, where Cook detailed where he went, what he saw and who he met.
